Anne Flahvin is a media and communications lawyer who specialises in content issues, particularly those affecting the media and education sectors.  Anne is also a former journalist and academic, and continues to teach two subjects in the LLM program at the University of NSW.  She is a regular speaker and commentator on copyright and new media.

Her previous roles include:

  • Special Counsel, Media and Content group, Baker & McKenzie lawyers
    (representing clients such as Universities Australia, Google, the Australian Digital Alliance and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
  • Journalist
    Australian Financial Review, Sydney Morning Herald, National Times, covering politics and business
  • Academic
    Macquarie University, teaching Media Law and Contract Law.
    University of New South Wales, teaching ‘Defamation and the Media’, ‘Privacy and the Media’, and ‘Censorship and Freedom of Speech’ in the LLM program.

Anne is a member of the Media and Communications Committee of the Law Council of Australia’s Business Law Section, the Copyright Society of Australia and the Communications and Media Law Association.
